Columbia State Community College’s Williamson Campus will offer a One Night A Week program to help busy adults earn an Associate of Applied Science degree starting this fall 2016.

“This program is designed to provide the best of both worlds by combining on-site and online courses,” said Dr. Shanna L. Jackson, associate vice president of the Williamson Campus.

The structure of the hybrid program will provide flexibility for students with busy schedules that want to earn one of three AAS degrees. There are two Information Systems Technology programs available – Medical Office Technology and Office Information Technology. There is also an AAS Business program option.

Students will take two on-site courses back to back on Tuesday nights from 6 – 7:20 p.m. and 7:30 – 9 p.m. In addition, students will enroll in three online courses per semester. The professor for both of the on-site will be the same to help with student support.

“The hybrid setup allows students to enjoy face-to-face meetings with instructors and classmates while accelerating their degree program with online courses,” Jackson said.

The new AAS program will allow many adults that are returning to college or attending for the first time to complete a degree and improve their employment opportunities.

“This program was designed with the busy, working students in mind,” Jackson said. “This program provides students with the option to obtain a degree in four semesters.”
