Brentwood Bruins Hope to Keep Last Week’s Momentum Against Raptors Friday

The Bruins will have to claw their way to the top against the Raptors on Friday. After a big win over Summit (1-8, 0-6) last week, Brentwood (3-5, 2-2) will take on neighboring rival Ravenwood (7-1, 4-0).

It’s no secret that the two have a strong rivalry. “The Battle of the Woods” is best known to describe the match-up to all the Williamson County natives. In last year’s match-up, Brentwood took a big win over Ravenwood 0-38, and I have a feeling, the Raptors will not be backing down that easy this year.

Last week, Austin Well was a major part in the win for the Bruins and will have to step up to the plate once again to take over for the blue-and-gold. Wells ran in three TDs during the first half.

Ravenwood took a one-point win over Franklin last week in overtime, handing them first place in District 11. If the Bruins can pull off a win, then the play-offs may be in the blue-and-gold horizon.

In early October, Brentwood took a 3-point loss over at Franklin (7-1, 3-1). The hard-fought loss could indicate a possible upper-hand for the Bruins, coming out of a big win from Summit (1-8, 0-5).

There is no doubt that the Bruins have had one of the toughest schedules in the Division. They’ve faced opponents like undefeated CPA (9-0), Blackman (8-0), and Oakland (8-0). Franklin and Centennial (4-4, 2-2) add to the division losses for Brentwood. However, the Bruins have taken wins from Hendersonville (6-2) at Homecoming earlier in the season and Dickson County (1-8, 1-4).

Coach T has Brentwood ranked at No. 6 for the toughest schedule in Division 1-AAA and Ravenwood at 77th.

Ravenwood has only one loss this season, and it’s attributed to the undefeated John Overton Bobcats. It was a 1-point loss in overtime for the Raptors. However, the Raptors have not endured more than two undefeated teams this season, unlike Brentwood’s four.

If Brentwood wants a shot at the “W”, the blue-and-gold will have to work hard on the field. All eyes are on Friday night as the Bruins take on the Raptors on the red-and-white turf at 7 p.m.
