A Williamson County man is in jail Wednesday charged with the murder of his father.
Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home on Cayce Springs Road in Thompson’s Station around noon today after a family dispute involving James Thomas Smithson, Jr., 36, and his father.
Witnesses said Smithson shot his father James Thomas Smithson Sr., 72, and ran out of the home into a nearby wooded area. WCSO deputies and SWAT team, K9 Tyson and Air One (WCSO helicopter) coordinated a search that led them to a mobile home on Cayce Springs Road. Deputies found Smithson inside and he surrendered.
Smithson has been charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault. His bond is $500,000. He’s scheduled to be in General Sessions Court on July 11, 2019 at 1 p.m.
