Approval was granted recently for the additions to the Williamson Medical Center. A new tower adjoining the building and expanded surgical suites are on their way.
“We are excited to embark on this next phase of the planned expansion, which is set to include finalizing architectural designs, a project timeline and ultimately breaking ground later this year. Our leadership team is continually looking for ways to expand to meet the growing needs of the communities we serve,” said Williamson Medical Center CEO Donald Webb. “We are so pleased that our application has been granted so that we can move forward with these much-needed additions.”
The additional operating rooms and the new tower children’s emergency department and pediatric wing will include 12 pediatric inpatient beds and four observation units. The pediatric service line will bear the name Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center. Currently more than 6,000 children are treated yearly at the facility.
“We always want to stay ahead of the needs in our community,” said WMC Chairman of the Board, Russell Little. “We feel these additions are much-needed and will allow us to continue to offer specialized care in a dynamic facility.”
Stay tuned for more information on the expansion as the year progresses.
