Photo of the day:The Grand Ole Opry made some special friends this week as Elmo and Abby of Sesame Street came for a visit to help celebrate the Opry’s 100th birthday by guest announcing and making their Opry performance debuts.
For the first time ever, the beloved Sesame Street friends stepped into the Opry circle last night, as Elmo performed with Opry member Lauren Alaina on her #1 hit “Road Less Traveled” and Abby sang with Tayla Lynn on “You’re Lookin’ At Country.” Lynn was following in the footsteps of her Opry member grandmother Loretta Lynn, who appeared on Sesame Street four decades ago.
During the second half of the show, both Elmo and Abby joined a growing list of performers, actors, sports figures, journalists and more to be guest announcers alongside the Opry’s award-winning radio broadcasters.
