Franklin Adds Saturday’s to BOPAE Waste Drop-Off

You can now dispose of your old batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and electronics (BOPAE) on Saturday’s. The first Saturday of every month beginning July 6th the center at 417 Century Court is open from 8 a.m. to Noon. Weekly schedules for the facility will remain the same this is an added opportunity for families.

“We wanted to add Saturday to our schedule,” says Becky Caldwell, Franklin Solid Waste Director.  “We understand that everyone may not be able to get to the facility during the week and hope this adds convenience for those wanting to recycle.”

BOPAE items accepted at the City’s facility are all batteries, both rechargeable and automotive. Paint should be in original containers. The electronics category includes computers (desktop and laptops), monitors (CRTs and flat screens), telephones, cell phones, fax machines, printers, copiers, televisions, residential medical equipment, stereo equipment, video games, PDAs and all cables. Computer hard drives should be cleaned of any personal information.  None of these items should ever be placed curbside for your regular trash pick-up.
