First Annual Thes Fest Helps Highlight Middle School Theater

The district’s inaugural Theater Solo and Ensemble Festival, also known as Thes Fest, showcased hundreds of WCS middle school theater students on Saturday, December 14.

Throughout the event, students attended workshops focused on music reading, dance, lighting, improvisation and more.

“The students were so happy, and the looks on their faces to see other students like them from across the district was the best part of the event,” said Mill Creek Middle theater director Aly Isom. “My whole heart is full.”

In addition to the workshops, students participated in adjudications covering stage management, scenic design, acting and musical theater. At the end of the festival, students were recognized for their outstanding performances and presentations.

  • Reagan Genaro, Page Middle – Outstanding Scenic Design
  • Emerson Gates, Brentwood Middle – Outstanding Acting Solo
  • Sophia Schouder and Beckett Holewinski, Page Middle – Oustanding Acting Duo
  • Franklin Illingworth, Ian Hasan, Gianna Hasan and Ana Landaeta, Heritage Middle – Outstanding Musical Theater Group
  • Jamie Santini, Woodland Middle – Outstanding Musical Solo
