City Farmhouse Pop-Up Show to Host Burlap Carpet Event

On Friday morning, those who have purchased early buying passes can expect to experience a pre-show burlap carpet event hosted by Nashville society editor Ted Clayton, who will interview guests about the latest news regarding the 2014 event, shopping tips, predications and the like.   A City Farmhouse spin-off of a red carpet event “picker style.”

“The red carpet interviews are always my favorite part of watching an awards show,” said show organizer Kim Leggett, of City Farmhouse in downtown Franklin. “I thought: why wouldn’t we take the opportunity to interview and interact with guests before the show? We’re thrilled to have Ted Clayton there to host the event. He’s a natural entertainer.”

Leggett says early birds will also have the opportunity to win early entrance passes to the pop-up show by competing in a singing contest.

“We’re having a Rocky-Top singing contest. Yep, you heard right,” she said. “If a guest can get up in front of the crowd and sing Rocky-Top at the top of their lungs, we’ll give you the chance to skip the line and see the merchandise before anyone else!

Those who shop at the 2014 pop-up show can expect to find the most unusual in handpicked selections spanning all eras and styles: farmhouse, French, architectural, garden, lighting, industrial, Americana and much more. In addition, handmade jewelry designed and repurposed from found objects will be a unique feature to the show. Plus, there will be celebrity book signings, book signings, live music, food trucks, how-tos and more.

In addition to the shopping extravaganza, guests are invited to experience the first-ever “Folk & Folly” exhibition inside Killen’s estate. The exhibit will showcase local talent through “picked” items that represent the vintage and antique theme of the show. A selected group of artists, photographers and designers will transform seven of the magnificent home’s abandoned rooms into Southern Gothic-type installations—a cross somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and Tim Walker’s photography, Leggett says.

Tickets for early buying—9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17—are $25 per person and can be purchased at the door. Regular show admission is $10 per day, or $15 for a weekend pass, and can also be purchased at the door.
