Ravenwood 4, Independence 1
In District 11 Playoff Action, Indy grabbed the early lead in the top of the first as Niemann singled in Trent Starr after Starr doubled.
Ravenwood wouldn’t score until the fourth inning when Ryan Beahmish led off with a bomb on a line drive to right field. Baily Whitten’s sinle later in the inning gave the Raptors the lead for good.
Bryce Denton went all seven innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run in the winning effort.
The Raptors will play the two seed Summit tomorrow at 1:30. Indy will await the loser of Brentwood and Centennial at 4:00 PM
Paul Dunbar 11 Brentwood Academy 4
The Eagles led 1-0 before surrendering three runs in the bottom of the first. They would tie it in the fifth but after that it was all Paul Dunbar. The team from Lexington, Kentucky would score a combined eight runs in the 5th and the 6th to run away with the win.
Battle Ground Academy 8, Franklin Road Academy 3
In the championship of the District tournament, BGA scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take early command of this game. Coleman Kruse doubled right on hard ground ball to get the scoring going.
FRA would make a game of it in the third, plating a run to make the score 2-1. But in the bottom of the fifth Battle Ground Academy had a huge inning to increase their lead.
It started with a Matt Cogen triple that scored two, which was followed by another Coleman Kruse double to right. That made it a 5-1 BGA lead and they would put FRA away fro good with three more runs the following inning.
Sam Folks got the win for BGA going all seven innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out twelve Panthers.
Centennial 7 Franklin 1
We have seen Matt Hargreaves have great outings all season. Even against some of the top hitting teams in the county, the Junior has success on the mound. But everyone has a bad day and Centennial made that happen. The Cougars busted out 14 hits in their 11-1 run-rule of Franklin and will advance to play the top seed of the district tournament and host team, Brentwood Saturday at 11.
Franklin plays the loser of Ravenwood and Summit at 6:00 tomorrow.
CPA 9 Marshal County 4
Spring Hill 3 Giles County 0
Darien Prewett went 2 for 2, singling in the first inning and homering in the sixth.
Varsity Pitcher Zach King pitched a complete game shutout giving up just two hits and striking out three.
Prewett’s home run to lead off the sixth provided some insurance for the Raiders as they advance in District 12 play.
