UPDATE 8.21.13
It was a teary night last night on SYTYCD. The show began with our hometown dancer, Tucker being placed in the bottom four and dancing for his life.
All the dancers talked about the people who were an inspiration to them and Tucker named his dad, former all star football player, as his inspiration because he accepts me, ” cheering me on as if I was the star quarterback.” His dad in return said he didn’t know how he was an inspiration to his son, “Tucker was the inspiration to our family and I love him”.
UPDATE 8.14.13
Tucker Knox, local dancer and competitor on the reality show “Show You Think You Can Dance,” has survived another elimination, making it to the Top 8.
Last night’s show was all about second chances. Tucker was unable to dance last week, due to a knee infection but last night was his chance to comeback. Tucker performed a very emotional dance routine with all-star, Robert. The routine was choreographed by Travis Wall, a former contestant and current choreographer on the show. The dance was about brothers trying to help each other through a hard time and it was the dance to keep Tucker safe for another week. Both Tucker and Robert have had near death experiences, making this piece especially emotional.
Their performance brought the judges to their feet and the judges praised Tucker on his performance. One judge even stated “I don’t know how you got on the bottom but now you are on the top!”
Two contestants were voted off the show this evening: Makenzie and Nico.
Stay tuned next Tuesday at 7p on FOX to see Tucker dance again. Next week’s show will open with a group performance, in which all 8 remaining contestants will dance together. And don’t forget to vote for Tucker at www.fox.com/dance next week. Voting for last night’s performance is closed but watch him perform next Tuesday and vote after the show. Phone lines are open for two hours.
UPDATE 8.7.13
Local dancer, Tucker Knox, could not dance his duet in competition last night due to a knee injury. No worries-he’s still on the show and can use your votes!
The ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ rules state that if a dancer is injured, they can stay on the show for at least one more week, if not voted off. If their injury keeps them out two weeks in a row, they have to leave the show.
Hopefully, Tucker will recover quickly and be able to perform next week. Don’t forget to tune in to FOX Tuesday nights at 7pm and vote for Tucker Knox!
Original Story 8.6.13
If you are a reality show junkie, then you will note they seem to find the most obnoxious person to represent our fair state. Not so, in the case of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, Season 10. Our home grown boy Tucker Knox is doing us proud.
As an instructor at DC Dance Factory as well as a former student, Tucker Knox has been dancing since the age of 11. His credentials are quite impressive with studies at The Juilliard School in NYC, dancing with River North Dance Company in Chicago as well as videos for Pepsi and Neocon.
Competition this week will determine the top ten dancers. Last week was a rough week for Tucker and his partner, Jenna, as they performed a Hip-Hop routine. The judges were not quite as favorable of their performance. It seemed to show their lack of comfort level with this type of genre.
Due to Tucker’s successes on the show, ‘Tucker Tuesday’ has emerged. Tucker has developed quite a social media following on Facebook and Twitter. Check out his social media and get Tucker Tuesday updates! Will you help us get out the word for Tucker? Vote for Tucker at fox.com/dance and tune in Tuesdays at 7pm on FOX.
