Raptors Roll to Regional Finals

BRENTWOOD, Tenn — Ravenwood had no trouble with District 12 runner-up Hillsboro. With the 8-0 win, the Raptors have now won 20 of their last 25 games to take a giant step towards Murfreesboro.

Ravenwood got on the board in the first when Bryce Denton reached out and slapped a triple off of the left field wall bringing in Ryan Beamish.

After Micah Kaczkor made easy work of Hillsboro in the top of the second, the Raptors added three more to their lead. Starting with an extra base hit by Drew Haynie and ending with a Bryce Denton sac fly where the ball beat the runner, but the catcher couldn’t hang onto the ball after the tag.

Hillsboro should have gotten out of the third inning without allowing any runs but Hillsboro first baseman, watched the ball go through his legs on a Tyler Craig slow roller off the end of the bat. Two more runs scored and Ravenwood was well in control, up 6-0.

The Raptors added two more to reach the final tally of 8-0. Head Coach Teddy Craig credited the pitching for once again helping RHS leave the field victorious.

“Our guys are pretty confident right now.” Said the Raptors manager. “Especially with the way our pitching is right now. We get a lead and they feel pretty good about it.”

Kaczkor retired 14 straight at one point of the game and recored the win for Ravenwood.

“My fastball was working pretty good.” Said the RHS starter.

If Ravenwood is going to win Region 6, they will have to beat Brentwood three times in a row.
