OBITUARY: Charlotte Callis

Charlotte Callis

Charlotte Sheriff Callis, age 53, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019.  Charlotte is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jay; daughter Reilly, son Boone, and son Brendan; parents Bill and Sharon Sheriff; brother Glenn Sheriff, nephew William and nieces Liz and Abby; sister-in-law Mandy; brother Lance (Karen) Sheriff, niece Ashley and nephew Joseph; parents-in-law Jack and Marjorie Callis; brother-in-law Bryan (Susan) Callis, niece Casey and nephew Will; brother-in-law Gregg (Chrissy) Callis, nephew Austin and niece Caitlin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Originally from New Mexico, Charlotte graduated from Brentwood Academy and Belmont University, returning to pursue a nursing degree and providing care to OR patients at St. Thomas Hospital and then all the sweet children of St. Edward School.  She spent her last years working in the Development & Business offices of Brentwood Academy and completed the Tennessee Organ and Tissue Donor Registry, extending grace to those in need.  She undeniably blessed the lives of so many in her family, work, and church communities; we dearly miss her.

Charlotte loved family, the beach, green chili, red wine and the Predators (not necessarily in that order!).  She derived great joy from scooping pitches in the dirt at first base, singing with her soprano sisters, hooking northern pike at Centre Island South (Ontario), repeatedly viewing the “Outlander” STARZ series, crooning with Harry Connick, sipping Curtis cocktails during “Happy Hour” at the shore, munching on jalapeno cheese pretzels at Disney, cheering on her boys at the hockey rink, and admiring her daughter’s artistic creativity.

To celebrate and bless her life, Rev. Daniel Reehil will conduct a funeral mass at 11AM on Saturday, April 6th at St. Edward Church, 188 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN.  Her family will receive friends and loved ones in the church sanctuary on Friday, April 5th from 7:30-10:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tennessee Donor Services, 1600 Hayes St., Suite 300, Nashville, TN, 37203.
