A new men’s barbershop and bar has opened in Franklin inside The Factory, located at 230 Franklin Road.

It’s called The Blockhouse. This is the second location for The Blockhouse, their first is located in the Wedgewood Houston area of Nashville and opened in 2015. The Blockhouse also has a sister salon geared toward’s women’s haircuts called Lunatic Fringe, which also has a Nashville and Franklin location.

“The Blockhouse design comes from our personal desire to have a place where WE would want to hang out. Concrete, wood, steel, and whiskey…every aspect of our concept is built around that desire.” explains Founder Jerrod Brown.  “We wanted to build a place where men can go and feel comfortable getting a haircut. And at the same time, you don’t feel like you have to rush in and out. Get a haircut, meet a friend, grab a drink. We want our guests to ‘Come early, stay late.'”

The Blockhouse name was inspired by our region’s frontier history. “A Blockhouse was a one building fort on the edge of a wilderness, that offered a safe haven for travelers during their cross country journeys” says Founder Tom Hockensmith.  “We want to offer men a cool place to hang.  We want guys to find rest and refuge in our Blockhouse prior to going back out on their journey.”

“Men’s hair cutting has been my passion for decades”, says Founder Matt Fine.  “As a current salon owner, I’ve seen some men who are reluctant to come into the salon. I’ve always felt men would feel more comfortable in a barber chair with a beer in hand instead of between two women getting a full highlight,” Fine adds.

“I feel the unique environment we are creating with The Blockhouse will offer an experience men have been craving. We want to honor the tradition of the old school barber shop, while offering modern styling and a place any man can be himself.”

The Blockhouse is open Tuesday – Saturday and accepts walk-ins. However, reservations are recommended to ensure you are served at your convenience. To reserve your time, call 615-905-8110.
