Franklin Transit Announces Free Rides for Veterans and Active Military Personnel

The Franklin Transit Authority announces veterans and active military personnel are eligible to ride the Franklin Transit Fixed Routes for free.

“We are thrilled to offer this free service to our military citizens to honor their service to protecting our freedom,” states Dale Thomas, Franklin Transit Authority Chairman. “It is our hope this free service will enhance the accessibility, connectivity, and community engagement in Franklin for our American Heroes.”

In addition to Retired Members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard, the following military personnel are entitled to the free transit fare as well: Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard. When boarding the transit vehicles, individuals need to show the transit driver their military ID card.

“It is exciting to provide this service to the men and women who sacrifice so much to keep our country safe,” shares Debbie Henry, TMA Group Executive Director. “Providing free rides on the fixed routes to our military personnel makes it possible for these individuals to access jobs, health care, education, social activities, and recreation at no cost.”
