Back Yard Burgers, the better-burger restaurant, is joining forces with No Kid Hungry to celebrate National Burger Month this May. The brand and its 57 locations across the country have committed to raise $50,000 for No Kid Hungry during the months of April and May as part of its year-long goal of raising $100,000.
“National Burger Month is an exciting month for Back Yard Burgers and we couldn’t be more proud to partner with No Kid Hungry,” David McDougall, CEO of Back Yard Burgers, said. “No Kid Hungry’s mission is one that is important to Back Yard Burgers. No child should ever have to worry about when their next meal will be or where it will come from. We are committed to giving back to our local communities and supporting organizations like No Kid Hungry.”
According to Share Our Strength, the nonprofit organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign, a staggering one in five American children struggles with hunger. Since 1984, Share Our Strength has raised more than $604 million through corporate sponsorships, events and donations. During that same timeframe, funds have been granted to more than 1,100 organizations nationwide that are effectively helping to feed kids.
The National Burger Month No Kid Hungry campaign kicked off in early April and will continue into May with a number of celebrations, including events in Memphis and in Nashville along with an online campaign to change the month of May to the month of Burger all in an effort to raise awareness of the brand’s commitment to No Kid Hungry.
