Woodland Middle student Marian Jenkins will represent WCS and Tennessee at the largest national spelling competition in May.
Marian was among the students who competed on March 21 at the Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee. She placed second in the competition, qualifying her to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
“I remember watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee on television as a young student, so to have Marian competing in it is super exciting,” said Woodland Middle English/Language Arts (ELA) interventionist Tina Tidwell. “The entire Woodland community will be cheering her on. I’m extremely proud of her and all that she has achieved so far.”
Marian will travel to Washington, D.C. for the national competition May 26-28.
