Morning Pointe Senior Living is set to break ground on its new senior living facility in Spring Hill later this month.

The new assisted living and memory care facility will total 58,000 square feet with two single-story buildings comprising 73 assisted living apartments, 20 of which will be located in “The Lantern” – a secure, dedicated area designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory care disorders. The community will be situated on 10 acres near the intersection of Duplex Road and Miles Johnson Parkway.

According to a news release, the first phase of the $25 million senior campus in Maury County will create 200 construction jobs and another 65 permanent healthcare positions upon its opening in spring 2017.

The landscaped campus will offer high-quality amenities, including fine dining areas, life enrichment programs and professional health and wellness services. Innovative and therapeutic programs such as SimpleC™ Companion services and the Meaningful Day™ program have been developed by the Morning Pointe team and incorporated into daily activities to ensure the highest quality of care for residents.morning pointe

The second phase of the development will feature a 35,000 square foot, freestanding Lantern Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence with 40 specially designed apartments for Alzheimer’s and memory care residents.

“The continued expansion of Nashville into Maury and Williamson counties on I-65 offers an opportunity for Morning Pointe to serve additional aging seniors,” says Greg A. Vital, president and CEO of Independent Healthcare Properties (IHP) and Morning Pointe. “With an increasing number of people living longer, Morning Pointe is working to meet the need, giving residents and their families options and choices in quality care and customer service.”

Morning Pointe is among three new senior living companies to announce expansions into Spring Hill this year. In May, city officials helped break ground on two additional senior facilities, The Reserve at Spring Hill and Traditions of Spring Hill.

At this past spring’s ceremony for The Reserve, Vice Mayor Bruce Hull spoke about how Spring Hill, primarily known for its population of young families, has seen some changes in demographics over the past 5-7 years.

“Our demographic is aging,” he said. “So it’s great to see an excellent facility like this coming into the city, especially with the skilled nursing component, which we don’t really have anywhere in this region and so that’s going to be a very welcome addition here.”

Builders have also begun preliminary grading work on the initial phase of the total 602-home Southern Springs development, a 55-and-over Del Webb active adult community off of Kedron Road.

“Here in Spring Hill we have a very large community of young families with small children,” said Insight Properties Principal David Buschmann, a local developer who helped guide the Southern Springs project through the planning process. “And with the baby boomers and the aging population – all of those families have parents and grandparents who are downsizing, retiring and want to locate near their families and grandchildren.”

In addition to its Spring Hill location, Morning Pointe operates three additional senior campuses in Brentwood, Columbia and Franklin. The Spring Hill facility will be the company’s fourth senior community in Middle Tennessee and 16th in the state.

“Morning Pointe’s expansion is a positive contribution to Spring Hill’s development plans for the future,” said Spring Hill Mayor Rick Graham. “Spring Hill is rising, evolving beyond the scope of a commuter city, and so we welcome this expansion effort as we continue to cultivate a great city to live, work and retire.”

The Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce plans to host a ceremonial ground breaking for Morning Pointe at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the project site on the south side of the Duplex Road-Miles Johnson Parkway intersection.
