Pilgrimage Festival Attendance Almost Doubled in 2017

Fans from around the world made the pilgrimage to Franklin for the third annual Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in September. The two-day festival is showcasing that Harlinsdale Farm is bringing together lovers of horses as well of those who enjoy live music in a picturesque setting.

The sold-out festival saw attendance double from last year due to the impressive lineup of artists that included Justin Timberlake, Eddie Vedder, Ryan Adams, Walk The Moon, Fitz And The Tantrums, The Revivalists, Valerie June, Joseph and more.

PilgrimageFounders of the event, Brandt Wood and Kevin Griffin presented their findings during the latest to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman.

  • This year’s attendance was 26,000 on Saturday and 23,000 on Sunday, which included 2,250 free children’s wristbands.
  • 47% of attendees were from the Franklin/Nashville area with Atlanta and Chicago following behind locals. There were even eight countries represented at Pilgrimage Festival this year.
  • Of the attendees, 59% were females and 41% males.
  • The average age of attendees was 40-years-old.
  • Those who attended this year’s function chose to use Lyft – their usage was up 497% over last year.
  • 533,720 hotels in the area were completely booked for the weekend.

The festival also supported the local community and continued to drive tourism dollars to Williamson County and the Pilgrimage Foundation, the festival’s non-profit arm. A portion of each ticket sale benefitted the City of Franklin and Friends of Franklin Parks. During the latest BOMA meeting, a check was presented to Friends of Franklin Parks for $32,205.
