PennePazze, a family-owned Italian kitchen, is joining the tenant lineup at Canteen on Carothers, a mixed-use destination poised to bring new energy to the heart of the Franklin area. Opening in early 2026, this location will be approximately 3,400 square feet and will introduce the restaurant’s ‘Gelato Pazzo,’ the restaurant’s debut gelato experience.

PennePazze opened its first Nashville restaurant in March 2020. Since then, a location has also opened in Murfreesboro, and a Germantown location is slated to open around the same time as the one in Canteen on Carothers. Every location is an open-kitchen format, where all food is made in-house. In this Franklin location, the Gelato Pazzo experience will have its own dedicated space.

“We are excited to bring the good news to Franklin residents that they won’t have to travel to get the best Italian experience in the region,” said PennePazze Founder and Owner Rony Stark. “Our new gelato will be crafted by Italian chefs with traditional methods and premium ingredients, an offering unlike anything else currently found in Tennessee.”

In addition to Gelato Pazzo, this new space will also include an outdoor patio and an in-house Italian market that will offer dry and fresh pasta, sauces, and imported goods direct from Italy. The opening of this location was inspired by existing loyal customers who are making the drive from Williamson County to Nashville to get the authentic Italian experience that can’t be found anywhere else nearby.

The Canteen on Carothers location will produce roughly 30 local jobs. Originally moving to Tennessee after falling in love with the community’s vibe, Stark says they are excited to continue to build relationships in this community. Developed by Stockbridge Capital Group and leased by Foundry Commercial, Canteen on Carothers is a vibrant, walkable destination that blends office, retail, and culinary experiences.
