Parks & Rec Plans Senior Trips to General Jackson & Lynnville

senior day trips

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) invites area seniors (55+) to participate in upcoming day trips to visit area attractions. These activities are open to the public.

General Jackson Showboat
A trip is planned for Wednesday, July 17 to the General Jackson Showboat. Step aboard the famous showboat in Music City for an afternoon of dynamic live entertainment in the alluring Victoria Theatre. While taking in the show that will sample all of the styles of music that made Tennessee famous, you can indulge yourself in the mouthwatering southern buffet. The General Jackson paddlewheel riverboat is the largest vessel of its kind and can hold over 1,000 passengers. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity. The cost of the outing is $78 (including lunch).

Transportation is available from two WCPR locations: the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr., Spring Hill (departing at 10:00 a.m., returning at 4:15 p.m.) and the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin (departing at 10:30 a.m., returning at 3:45 p.m.) Registration begins June 17 at www.wcparksandrec.com. Participants will tour the facility to see this process in action, and also enjoy a whiskey tasting. Lunch (Dutch treat) will be at Soda Pop Junction. Known for its Southern cooking, award winning burgers, fried pies and old fashioned ice cream, this lunch stop will serve up everyone’s favorite cuisine. The trip will wrap up with a classic wine experience at Lexington Winery. Cost of the outing is $20.
