Nolensville’s Growth Calls for Special Census

Williamson County has seen an exponential amount of growth over the recent years. One town’s growth, in particular, has been incredible. The quaint town of Nolensville has seen an influx of businesses, jobs and residents in the last five years.

Just a few of the projects Nolensville has underway or have completed in the last few months are:
Plans to build four new buildings and renovate a fifth in the historic district
Construction on a recreation center
The grand opening of their Farmer’s Market
Development of a new neighborhood style subdivision called Carothers Crossing
Plans to open three new schools in Nolensville  in 2016

All of this growth can clearly be seen to anyone who visits Nolensville, which is why the Nolensville Board of Mayor and Alderman voted and passed a plan to conduct a special census. The town has hired Crisp Communications of Brentwood to conduct the census, a project which will cost $30,000. Not only will a census give a more accurate account of the growth in Nolensville but will also allow the town to receive more state funds.

The last federal census of Nolensville was taken in 2010 and concluded that the Nolensville population was around 5,800—3.2% of Williamson County’s total population. The census also predicted that the population would increase by 5.9% by 2013.

Crisp Communications will begin work this month, by sending out letters and census cards. The count will not be completed until Feb 2015.

No doubt, Nolensville has grown tremendously and probably exceeded the estimated 5.9% growth. Founded by William Nolen in 1797 when he and his family were passing through the small town, Nolensville has now become a booming city with great job opportunities, schools and neighborhoods. The Williamson Source explored this booming town in a four part series. Check out our videos: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.
