Logan Blade & Tammy Vice Perform During Art Scene at Jack Yacoubian Jewelers

During April, National Autism Awareness Month, Jack Yacoubian Jewelers celebrates and honors the artistic creations of artists with autism. Many individuals with autism spectrum disorder are gifted in the arts. Three of the featured artists, two visual, and one a performing musician, are young adults who have successfully honed their craft throughout their school years. Each has aged out or will shortly age out of their school services into the adult work world, seeking forms of employment and varying degrees of independence, including housing.

Being an artist and also growing up is challenging in our culture, let alone when an artist is navigating these life hurdles with a disability that affects communication, behavior, and social interactions.

Yet, art bridges the world of disability through its beauty and ability to communicate from the heart of the artist and to the eyes and heart of the viewer. Art is a universal language.

As we get closer to the April Art Scene, we want to feature each of the artists who will be part of the installation at Jack Yacoubian Jewelers.

Today, we want to feature the performing artist you will see at Art Scene. Logan Blade was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. Although he has extremely limited speech and cannot communicate conversationally, he sings flawlessly in a melodic and deep baritone voice. His talent has taken him to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry where he performed with county artist Josh Turner. Logan recently performed with the across the eastern United States, including at the Washington, D.C, WW II Memorial, and in New York City upon the USS Intrepid with a a regional choral performance group. He regularly performs at churches and various other community events. He has released two CD’s and his recent video imitating the iconic Willie Nelson went viral, attracting the attention and praise of the legend himself. See the video below

In addition, to Logan Blade,Tammy Vice  with
Know The Hope Inc. will also be performing during Art Scene.  As a songwriter and artist, Tammy has had four songs hit #1 on independent Christian and Country charts. Vice was the Country Music Hall of Fame’s 2009 Nominee for the Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Award, and was awarded VSA Tennessee’s 2015 Artist of the year.
Her most important role is being a mother. Tammy has two “pretty remarkable” daughters. She became a strong advocate for autism awareness after her younger daughter, now a young adult, was diagnosed with autism at age 3. Tammy is the producer and host of the annual “Breaking The Chains” Autism Benefit, held at the Bluebird Café. This spring marks the event’s 15th anniversary.

A portion of the store’s exhibition commission will benefit the Nashville IDD Housing Group, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that helps prepare persons with an intellectual and/or developmental disability (IDD) to live independently within a supportive community.
