The 46th Annual GMA Dove Awards were handed out in 41 categories, as well as 4 special awards. Co-hosted by Erica Campbell and Sadie Robertson, the night drew a record attendance at the Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University. The entire show will broadcast exclusively on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on Sunday, October 18th at 9:00PM CST.
Franklin resident and producer, Seth Mosley leads in the Dove Award count, taking home four awards. Mosley was also involved with producing the King & County Album-Run Wild,Live Free,Love Strong.
Other big winners from the evening included Lecrae who won “Artist of the Year,” “Rap/Hip-Hop album of the Year” and “Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year” With Matt Maher taking honors as “Songwriter of the Year/Artist” and writer/performer for “Prasie and Worship Song of the Year.”
Newcomer to the Dove Awards,Lauren Daigle, with four nominations and winning three Dove Awards, “New Artist of the Year,” Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year,” and “Song of the Year.” Daigle said, “I’m blown away by all the support.”
Winning his 45th Dove Award for “Christmas Album of the Year,” Michael W. Smith said,”The people who came to be a part of this record is pretty magical. I usually never say the word, but I really am proud of this project and it wouldn’t be what is it without Robert and David and all the artists who came in and brought their talents.” Smith hinted at a new project underway with Cracker Barrel but was unable to release any details.
American Idol alumni,Colton Dixon won a Dove Award for the “Best Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for Anchor. Dixon just announced his engagement to long time girlfriend,Annie Coggeshall. Backstage, he told how he got the ring placed inside the glass slipper at Cinderella’s Castle in Disneyworld. When asked about winning the Dove Award, Dixon went on to say, “I’m happy to serve and happy to be in this industry with artists I look up to and I love.
