Independence celebrated its homecoming with a 42-0 thrashing of Dickson County on Friday night, with wide receiver T.J. Sheffield scoring three times.

The Eagles (4-4), who scored all their points in the first half, including 28 in the first quarter. The teams played with a running clock most of the second half.

Quarterback Ethan Cash hit Isaiah Collier with a touchdown pass just 1:38 into the night.  Cash then connected with Sheffield for another score with 7:30 left in the quarter.

But the Eagles weren’t done. Sheffield scored again 2:06 later, before backup quarterback Nathan Cisco hit Tyrus Jackson with a touchdown pass with 2:01 left in the quarter. 

Cash found Sheffield for another touchdown, this one coming at the 5:37 mark of the second quarter. 

Jackson scored his second touchdown in the third quarter. 

Independence travels to Memphis East next week, then ends its regular season with Ravenwood on Oct. 26.
