Get Rid of Hazardous Waste this Saturday

If you’ve been Spring Cleaning, you may have come across some ‘hazardous items’  in your home. If you’re wondering how to dispose of those items, we’ve got a solution for you.

This Saturday, May 3rd is Hazardous Waste Day. From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., drop off your hazardous items at the Williamson County Administrative Complex parking lot, located at 1320 West Main Street in Franklin.

Household Hazardous Waste Day is not county specific so anyone is welcome to bring items to recycle at this event.

Items you can bring are: paint thinners, automotive fluids, pesticides and herbicides, oven cleaners and drain cleaners, swimming pool chemicals, roofing tar, aerosols and driveway sealant. When bringing these items to Household Hazardous Waste Day, you should line the trunk of your car with plastic or newspaper and store all hazardous materials in closed containers. Please do NOT bring any medical and infectious wastes, radioactive wastes including smoke detectors, or any ammunition or explosives.

Also, conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste, meaning waste from non-household sources such as businesses, schools, farms or churches, is acceptable but by appointment ONLY. Please call 615-643-3170 to request a price quote and to schedule an appointment.

If you would like a full list of what you can and cannot bring, you can check out Williamson Recycles’ website at www.williamsonrecycles.org or you can call our office at 615-790-0742.
