Coming off an upset loss to Evangelical Christian last week, the buzzsaw that is Mongomery Bell Academy this year may not have been the easiest team to rebound against for Father Ryan.
But the schedule is the schedule, and the Fighting Irish (2-3, 1-2) lost their second straight on Friday night, 35-0.

Big Red Run Attack Too Much For Father Ryan
MBA (5-0) rushed for almost 300 yards on the night, scoring 28 first half points, holding the visiting Father Ryan to a season-low 138 total yards.
The Fighting Irish had the most trouble stopping Ty Chandler, who scored 4 touchdowns for Big Red while rushing for 193 yards.
Father Ryan, on the other hand, rushed for 95 yards as a team, led by Bryce Vickers. Vickers gained 34 yards on 8 carries; he also led the team in receiving, with a catch for 23 yards.
Zach Pfiefer, having an impressive season coming into the game, was slowed down by the Big Red defense. He finished 4 for 11 for 43 yards and an interception. Pfiefer added 31 yards on 10 carries.
This is the seventeenth straight loss against No. 5 ranked MBA for Father Ryan, so the loss shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The loss ends a three-game road trip for Father Ryan that started with a win against Pope John Paull II. The Irish have a bye week next Friday to regroup, followed by two home games in a row. The first is against 2-3 Spring Hill, followed by homecoming against 4-1 Brentwood Academy.
