Class A/AA Basketball Wrapup – 1/5/16

District 11

Grace Christian Lions – After a slow start to the season, Grace Christian has won 4 of their last 7 to improve to 4-8 on the season. The Lions are currently 2-2 in District 11 play and went 1-1 in the Pope John Paul II Christmas Classic. This week, the Lions travel to Richland and Culleoka.

The Lady Lions have struggled in the transition to TSSAA. GCA currently sits at 0-8 and winless in district play. The GCA ladies travel to Richland and Culleoka this week in search of their first win of the season.

Fairview Yellow Jackets – The Yellow Jackets tallied their first victory of the season over Hampshire in the first round of the Mount Pleasant Fast Pace Christmas Classic. Fairview currently sits at 1-12, 0-6 in District 11 play. Fairview hosts Waverly Central and travels to Lewis County in district contests.

The Lady Jackets are in the midst of a dry spell with an 8-game losing streak. Fairview is 3-10 overall and 2-4 in district competition. This week, Fairview faces Waverly Central and Lewis County in efforts to get off their current losing streak.

District 12

Page Patriots – The Patriots sit at 6-6 after the first half of their season. Page competed in both the Page Christmas Classic and the Eagleville Christmas Classic, going 1-3 between the two tournaments. This week, Page travels to district opponents Spring Hill and CPA to begin the second half of their season.

The Lady Patriots sit at 6-6 on the season, as well. The Lady Patriots also played host to the Page Winter Classic and traveled to the Eagleville Christmas Classic, where at both they went 1-1. The Lady Patriots open district play this week at Spring Hill and CPA.

Spring Hill Raiders – Spring Hill sits at 3-5 after the holiday break. The Raiders traveled to Buckner, Kentucky for the Best in Hoops Holiday Tournament, where they went 1-2. Spring Hill begins district play this week by hosting Page and traveling to Giles County.

The Lady Raiders tallied their first victory during the holiday break, topping Hickman County in the Above the Rim tournament in Centerville. Spring Hill went 1-2 in the Above the Rim tournament and ran their record to 1-10 on the year. The Lady Raiders will face Page and Giles County in their opening district contests.

CPA Lions – CPA currently sits at 6-6 on the year. The Lions participated in the Bardstown Holiday Classic, winning the tournament, and the Next Level Hoops Fest, where the Lions went 0-3. This week, the Lions start District 12 play with contests at Marshall County and at home against Page.

The Lady Lions are 9-4 this year. During the break, CPA joined many other local programs at the Above the Rim tournament. CPA went 2-1 and the tournament to bring home 3rd place in the tournament. The Lady Lions also went 1-1 at the Rossview Christmas Classic. The Lady Lions will look to get off to a good start in district play against Marshall County and Page.
