The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of Middle Tennessee until 7 p.m. Friday.
A Flash Flood Warning, distinguished from a watch by floods having already occurred in places, was issued for parts of Middle Tennessee until 2:30 a.m. Friday:
The National Weather Service in Nashville issued a Flash Flood Warning for:
Lewis County, Northern Wayne County, Southern Dickson County, Northwestern Maury County, Western Williamson County, Perry County, Southern Humphreys County and
Hickman County
* At 9:11 p.m. CDT Thursday Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. 4 to 5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
* Some locations that were likely to experience flooding included:
Columbia, Dickson, Hohenwald, Centerville, Camden, Linden, Mount Pleasant, New Johnsonville, Hurricane Mills, Fairview, Clifton, Lobelville, Gordonsburg, Kimmins, Bon Aqua, Primm Springs, Flatwoods, Bucksnort, Hampshire and Pleasantville.

From the earlier issued Flash Flood Watch:
“Tropical Depression Harvey will move towards the mid state, and will drop 4 to 8 inches of rainfall across the watch area,” the NWS warns. “The highest amounts will be mainly north of I-40 and west of I-65, although periods of heavy rainfall will be possible further eastward, along with the potential for flash flooding. Rainfall across the area may also lead to rises on rivers and lakes on Friday and into the weekend.”
The watch is in effect through 7 p.m. Friday, and it includes the counties: Cheatham, Clay, Davidson, Dickson, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Macon, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson.

“Low-lying and flood prone locations in both urban and rural
areas will be most impacted by heavy rainfall,” the NWS states. “Sharp rises in creeks and rivers may occur. Please do not attempt to cross water of any depth. Remember, Turn Around, Don`t Drown.”
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

Thursday evening, a tornado warning was issued in West Williamson County near Fairview. That warning has expired, and so did a tornado warning in effect in Maury County near Culleoka and Columbia until 8:45 p.m.
