When Sudsy’s Car Wash holds its grand re-opening on Aug. 3 and 4, the Spring Hill Police and Fire Departments will be the guests of honor with 100 percent of every individual car wash purchased during the two-day re-opening celebration to be donated to the two departments to assist the family of an officer killed in the line of duty. The re-opening festivities also will include free food and refreshments, appearances by the seven-foot Sudsy Duck mascot, balloons and giveaways.
After an extensive restoration and remodel, Sudsy’s is back to serving the Spring Hill community after a fire destroyed the business on Nov. 27, 2017.
The Spring Hill Police and Fire Departments plan to donate their portion of the proceeds to the Baker family following the tragic May 30 shooting death of 32-year-old Police Sgt. Daniel Baker while in the line of duty. The 10-year career Dickson County Sheriff’s Deputy and Marine Corps veteran left behind a wife, Lisa, and daughter Meredith. Sgt. Baker’s father, Detective Darryl Baker, and his step-brother, Officer Evan Bohn, both work for the Spring Hill Police Dept.
“With the family connection, and the many officers with SHPD who knew Sgt. Baker, myself Included, we shared the personal impact of this tragedy,” added Spring Hill Police Chief Don Brite. “A small portion of the proceeds will also go toward travel expenses for Daniel’s father, Det. Darryl Baker and his family, to attend the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., where Law Enforcement Officers lost in the line of duty throughout the year will be honored. Daniel’s name will be added to the Police Memorial Wall so the sacrifice he made for the community he served and protected will never be forgotten. Thank you to Sudsy’s Car Wash, Troy VanLiere, and to all of those in our community and beyond, who contribute to this special event.”
“When Sudsy’s Car Wash reached out to our department, our first thought was helping the Baker family after their tragic loss,” said Spring Hill Fire Chief Terry Hood. “Firefighters love their families and our ‘Brothers in Blue’ are family, that’s what we do and I know that the Spring Hill community will come out in full force to support such a great cause.”
