Scene Around Town: Celebrity Barn Dance in Thompson’s Station

On Saturday evening, Music Health Alliance held the third annual Celebrity Barn Dance at The Jaeckle Center in Thompson’s Station.

Thompson’s Station resident and country music legend, Rodney Crowell, was scheduled to be the host, but he was unable to attend at the last minute due to a sudden illness. However, the  show continued as planned with Vince Gill taking over the host duties.

Performances for the evening included Vince Gill, Ashley Monroe, Wendy Moten, Emmy Lou Harris, and Colin Linden from the T.V. show “Nashville.”

Gill also lead the live auction portion of the evening where patrons could bid on hand-written lyrics by songwriters, a VIP concert experience with Roseanne Cash, and a painting donated by Emmy Lou Harris. During the auction portion, Gill shared a story of how his first job playing the guitar was for Roseanne Cash who at first questioned his ability to play but at the urging of Rodney Crowell gave him the opportunity to play.  Unlike a concert, the evening was a more unplanned set of songs that were often selected on the spot by the performers.  One of the outstanding performances of the night was Vince Gill with Ashley Monroe, Monroe has recently written a song with Gill on the Time Jumpers album called “I Miss You.”  See their performance below.

All proceeds from the evening went to Music Health Alliance, a free service to help musicians and those who work in the music industry navigate the healthcare system.  See a few of our photos from the evening. Learn more about Music Health Alliance on their website.
