The Franklin Rebels went up to Nashville last night to face and always tough McGavock Raiders football team. It was a hard fought game and the Rebels game the Raiders all they wanted, but in the end the Raiders prevailed 31-28.
After a touchdown and a missed PAT by McGavok they kicked off to the Rebels, who would fumble the kickoff, to give the raiders the ball back, which would make it a 14-0 game.
In the 2nd quarter Joe Critchlow would find Jackson Sweatt in the end zone for a 10 yard pass to make it a 14-7 game; however the score would be 21-7 at the half.
Midway through the 3rd Quarter Brice Milam would find the end zone on a 15 yard run. McGavock would score again to make it a two possession game.
In the 4th Quarter after Critchlow would find Parker Pinell, McGavock would get the ball back. With the Raiders on their one yard line they would fumble the ball and the Rebel defense would recover. The Rebels would tie it up at 28 with a Joe Critchlow touchdown. McGavock would later get a field goal in with a Field Goal with 3 minutes left in the game.
In an attempt to keep the ball the Raiders would attempt an onside kick, Franklin would recover to give the Rebels a chance at the lead, however they could not capitalize.
The Franklin High School Rebels will continue the season next Friday night at 7:00 PM as they visit the Golden Eagles of Shelbyville Central
