Nate Johnson, the former Michigan and Independence High School football player, pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery in Ann Arbor’s 15th District Court Wednesday, reports MLive.com.

According to MLive.com:

The amended charge, a misdemeanor, was part of a plea deal. Johnson was originally charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence.

As part of the deal, Judge Elizabeth Hines also agreed to sentence Johnson under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which means Johnson’s criminal record will be wiped if he follows all court-imposed conditions.

Johnson admitted to Judge Hines that he touched a woman against her will.

“I had a physical altercation with (a female) and it just got away from me,” he said. “We got into a fight.

The case was delayed on Oct. 25. Before playing for Michigan, Johnson was a standout player for Independence High School as a wide receiver.

Johnson was first arrested on September 30, when he was accused of attacking a female student at 600 E. Madison in Ann Arbor, in Michigan’s South Quad dormitory area, in the early morning of Sept. 30.

Records indicate Johnson had been in a dating relationship with the woman.

After his arrest, he was first suspended then dismissed from the university’s football team.
