How To Throw The Ultimate Holiday Soirée!
By: Chelsea Weems, Fashion student, O’More
Recently, I had the privilege of attending the 2015 O’More Christmas Party. Let me tell you….it was a BLAST.
The O’More family really knows how to throw the ultimate holiday party.
So this got me thinking, what do I need to know to throw one of these amazing soirées? So I rounded up the most stylish hosting ideas from Amy Shelton, the host of the party.
From rustic Christmas decor to beautiful and festive cocktail recipes, here are a few ideas for throwing a chic Christmas party:
It’s all starts at the Front Door -Welcome to the Shelton’s
Seasonal Scents
This Frasier Fir candle is the perfect scent for any holiday gathering.
It smells of a crisp just cut forest fragrance. Pretty much a winter solstice happening right in your living room! You can purchase it online at Thymes or at A Moment’s Peace Day Spa & Salon in Franklin.
And these adorable candy cane candles can be purchased at basically any craft store! These make a cute addition to any mantle or coffee table.
Every adorable velvet couch needs festive fluffy pillows to go along with it! These pillow covers can be purchased at Pottery Barn.
Tinsel & Trees
This is by far the most important part of decorating for a holiday party….THE TREE!
I’d have to say out of all the years, this year’s tree was by far the hardest to create. Amy came to me with this idea to make a tree out if a dress form with a red and gold theme. Well, after a few YouTube videos she was made! I started out by basically draping a skirt out of chicken wire to create a base. Then after that you pretty much just weave in all of the branches into the wire cage. You can secure everything with floral wire just to be sure nothing will fall out of place. Finish off with a cute shirt for the top, a bow at the waist, and ornaments of your choice.
Treat Yourself
A good holiday menu should consist of delectable finger foods, scrumptious desserts, and of course shrimp cocktail
All food pictured was provided by Cool Cafe .
I’d have to say Cool Cafe NEVER disappoints! Seriously everything is great. The food, the service, the prices, the quality, the cleanliness, and the catering staff were wonderful!
No soirée is complete without a little bubbly! Here is a list of some great wine/ bubbly options under $15 that you can either serve or bring to a holiday get together:
1. Mionetto Brut Prosecco Veneto — $10.99
2. Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2015 — $11.95
3. Hahn Pinot Noir — $14
4. Warre’s Heritage Ruby Port — $11.99
5. Aveleda Vinho Verde 2014 — $8.99
If you are feeling extremely festive, here is my absolute favorite drink recipe:
The Sugar Cookie Martini
Ingredients-
1 ounce vanilla vodka
1 ounce amaretto
2 ounces Frosted Sugar Cookie or Vanilla International Delight Coffee
Creamer
Directions-
1. Coat the rim of the glass with light corn syrup and then dip the rim in sugar.
2. Place ice in shaker, along with all ingredients. Shake and strain into prepared glass.
I found this delicious recipe awhile back at
Crazy for Crust .
