Get To Know Brentwood High Quarterback Baylor Hayes

The Brentwood Bruins are 9-0 and a big part of that success is their Quarterback, Baylor Hayes. Baylor transferred to Brentwood from Florida just under a year ago and his teammates and coach would tell you, just like they told me, that he has made a huge impact over that year.

Brentwood Head Coach, Clint Finch, had this to say about his senior signal caller:

“As head coach what has impressed me the most is Baylor’s work ethic and leadership skills.  From the start of our off-season program in January Baylor was really committed to our program and showed that he was a guy that could be trusted to put in the work.  That attitude went a long ways to helping him be accepted by all our returning players.  Also he has shown real leadership during both practices and games. Whether things are going well or we are struggling he continues to provide positive leadership. As the offensive coordinator Baylor brings both great mobility and arm strength to his position.  He has an ability to extend plays and keep his eyes downfield and find open receivers.  He can also stretch defenses horizontally by making hash to far sideline throws as well as throwing deep routes with great touch.”

I sat down with Baylor after Monday’s practice to get a better understanding of the Bruins’ leader and I cannot understate the word “leader” because that is the word everyone uses to describe him. For me, the common theme in talking to him seems to be his ability to handle pressure. He’ll need that this weekend at Ravenwood for The Battle of The Woods as well as the TSSAA playoffs coming up.
