Fairview High School’s Jackson Clevenger out-wrestled his competition at the Tennessee High School Wrestling Championship and returned to Fairview with a state champion title under his belt.
“Jackson is one of Fairview’s finest,” said FVHS Athletic Director Ricky Jones. “He is a fighter on the mat but such a great sport and young man.”
The tournament, held at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center on February 2-3 and February 15-17, brought together high school wrestlers from around the state to compete in many different weight classes and divisions. Jackson competed in the A-AA division’s 285-pound weight class.
After winning, Jackson showed true sportsmanship as he helped his opponent to his feet after the match.
“It was not only a really special moment for Jackson and his family, but for the entire wrestling family and community of Fairview,” said FVHS wrestling coach James Derrick, who said all of the wrestlers represented Fairview well in the tournament.
