Enjoy The Ride October 13th

Run 840

Governor Bill Haslam will lead a large group of bicycle riders down the newest stretch of SR 840 on October 13th. This is a huge event and your chance to enjoy the scenery and be part of the celebration. The event will have a 5k and 10k run as well so come on out and be part of history.

The day starts with the runners who begin and end their journey from Tollgate Village at Thompson’s Station. Registration for the 840 Encounter Run is available online at www.outdoorencounter.org. At exactly 8:40 A.M. cyclists will have numerous options to join in with a Family Fun Ride of less than 5 miles. For the more-fit crowd there will be a 17-mile Carter/Pinewood Ride, a 28-mile Full-840 or the Grand Fondo which takes you on the roads of Williamson and Maury Counties.

Registration for the Fondo here .

Portions of the proceeds from the Fondo will benefit the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, Ride for Reading, Oasis Center, and the Leiper’s Fork Association. Information on the three treks is available on the site. A festival will follow the exercise portion of the day, beginning at 11:30 and ending at 6 P.M. Food, beverages and music wait as the participants end their journey at historic Leiper’s Fork. Nissan, Whole Foods, Harpeth Cycles and Lightning 100 are sponsors for the day.

All of this is in celebration of the grand opening of SR 840 connecting the communities of Middle Tennessee. Beginning at 11 A.M. on November 2nd is an “Enjoy the Ride” parade which will set out at Noon.

The route will open to regular traffic at 1 P.M.
