The CPA Lions prowled out to the Pulaski, Tenn. jungle Friday night and pounced the Giles County Bobcats 38-10 in a game that was decided by halftime.
CPA (3-0, 1-0 in AA District 12) scored six straight times in the first half, with junior running back Jay Hockaday leading the way with two touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Zack Weatherly added one in the air, connecting with senior Thomas Richard. Kicker JR Osborn added three with a field goal. And junior Parker Howell scored the lions fifth touchdown on a 18-yard interception return in the second quarter.
CPA and Giles (2-1, 0-1 in AA District 12)) were both undefeated coming into this game, which was the first district match up for both teams. Now only CPA and Cascade , which won last night, remain undefeated for the season in District 12.
The Lions got this win with a very balanced, efficient, attack, rushing for 135 yards and passing for 128. The Giles Bobcats gained only 161 yards, total, and 122 of those after halftime, with the game all but already decided.
The Lions now are first in their District, with Cascade being the only other undefeated team.
