The Marshall County Tigers (1-2, 1-0 in AA District 12) got their first win in their first home game this season Friday night against the Page Patriots, 42-21.

The game was tied at half-time, 14-14, but from there the Tigers took off, scoring 28 straight points.

The Patriots (1-2, 0-1 in AA  District 12) just could not keep up, rushing for only two yards, and on defense they could not catch up, to the throwing of Austin Stacy and his favorite receiver.

The Tigers quarterback accounted for five touchdowns, four passing and one on his feet. His preferred target, receiver Chris Walker, caught three looong scores that went for 71, 68 and 48 yards.

Though the Patriots came into this game with an explosive offense- leading AA District 12 in points, – they only put up 21 this week, with the last touchdown coming long after the game was decided.

Mizell threw for two scores and 304 yards this week, the first a 12-yard strike to sophomore running back Michael Roberts, which gave the Patriots the first points of the game and a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers came back with 14 quick points, then Mizell hit sophomore wideout Trevor Johnson for a 55-yard touchdown, tying the game before the half- the last time the game looked even.

The Tigers just outran the Patriots on the ground and took advantage of three Patriot turnovers (2 fumbles, 1 interception).  The Patriots only ran for two yards, compared to the Tigers’ 190.

Overall, Marshall County out-gained Page, with 587 total yards to Page’s 402.
