Pennell’s Ponderings – Labor Day

On this Labor Day let us not forget that our lives depend on the honesty, industry and integrity of all who labor. If these virtues are not practiced, the threads of our social order will be torn from the fabric of life. May we be ever grateful for all who labor.

As followers of the love that was in Jesus, we should be mindful of their needs, grateful for their work ethic and faithful in our responsibilities to them.

There are countless numbers of unrecognized people who “do their work quietly to earn their own living” (Thessalonians 3: 12). May these persons be undergirded by our prayers, thanked by the whole Church and be paid a wage that is loving and just.

It is Worth Pondering,

Joe E. Pennel Jr.
