Bruins fall short of Madison Square Garden

The sold out crowd at Clemson was rocking with a trip to New York City on the line.

When the final horn blew, the students did what any ACC student section would do after beating Belmont, rush the floor.

Trailing by three and with just 47 seconds remaining, Belmont elected to take a chance on the tie. JJ Mann fired up a heavily contested three point try from the wing, that went off of the back side of the rim.

That would be the Bruins’ last chance at tying the game.

Belmont did lead early in the second half when Craig Bradshaw was left open in a transition for a three to give Belmont a two point advantage. Bradshaw led the Bruins with 21 points.

The OVC regular season champs even had a 5 point lead just before the final media timeout, but the Tigers would finish the game on a 12-2 run.

Demarcus Harrison hit a jumper to give Clemson the lead at 69-68 and with 90 seconds to play Drew Windler was called for steps, giving the Tigers the ball back.

Rod Hall, then finished a contested lay-up to extend the lead to 71-68.

Belmont finishes the season 26-10.
