It’s All About Black and White for the Holidays

It’s week three of our how to mix your wardrobe for your holiday events.  The last couple of seasons, it’s been all about black and white combo.  As one the our local designers Lauren Leonard said to me during Nashville Fashion Week, “Black and White is always in style.”  So, Katie Rushton and I set out against to find the perfect building piece for our next set of holiday outfits.  We found this embellished black sweater at White House-Black Market.  Take a look at how we paired our sweater.  Even if you don’t have this exact sweater, you can use a black sweater from your closet to gain the same looks.

WHBMSweater+GreyJeans

Our first look features gray straight jeans with  gray pumps.  Have you noticed that gray is replacing black shoes more and more? We can’t get enough of a structured jacket so we added this black/white jacket to the ensemble.  Wear this outfit to a more casual event like a holiday performance or dinner out.

WHBMSweater+Tuxedo

In this  second look, we wanted it to be a little more dressy.  This could easily be worn 9-5 and 5-9 on these long days when work and play lines seem to blur.  Tuxedo jackets like the white one we chose can easily be worn with jeans for a more casual look. If you haven’t bought a tuxedo jacket this season, now is the time to do so.  You will see more of those into the spring.

WHBMSweater+Tweed

Our last look is texture heavy giving our outfit more interest.  Tweed is the texture of the moment and in this black and white coloring, the outfit combinations are endless.  If you had the tuxedo jacket, it could be easily paired with  this tweed skirt.  Don’t forget about the accessories.  We thought this little clutch was perfect little gem to add to our ensemble.
