Has this ever happened to you?  You try to finish a series you started only to fall asleep in the middle of episode two and wake up to find the TV on episode four.

Netflix has solved that problem for you with a new tech product called Netflix socks, a sock that will pause Netflix if you fall asleep.

Here’s the catch, they are not available for purchase yet. But, Netflix has provided instructions for the super ambitious DIY project.

Netflix states on its website, “Making Netflix socks from scratch means doing a little knitting and building some electronics. If knitting isn’t your thing, you can always enlist the help of a knitting-savvy friend or simply use socks you already own. To build the sensor, you’ll need an understanding of electronics and microcontroller programming, and be comfortable around a soldering iron.”

Describing the mechanics  of how the sock works Netflix says, “We’ve based our sleep detection system on a popular method called actigraphy. An accelerometer detects when you’ve stopped moving for a prolonged period of time and triggers a signal to your TV that pauses Netflix. When it detects that you’ve dozed off, an LED light in the cuff of the sock flashes red, warning that the pause signal is about to be sent to your TV. Any motion will stop it from firing.”

Find more about the products and instruction on the Netflix website. The only thing left is to choose your pattern to knit, Netflix has several designs to choose from which include: Bloodline,
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, House of Cards, BoJack Horseman and Daredevil.

And for those of us who don’t knit–let’s not even talk about electronic knowledge–we hope Netflix will release the socks soon.
