5 Running Tips to Run Your Best Race

Fleet Feet Running Group

Fall is the perfect time to try a 5K like the Franklin Classic  or Franklin 4 for the Cure.  ZOOMA recently started their training for the women’s half marathon to take place in November at Fleet Feet.

We spoke to Executive Director and Founder, Brae Blackley, who shared these 5 running  tips to prepare yourself for your next race.

Get fitted! The right shoes make all of the difference. Local running stores can watch you run to identify pronation or supination. They’ll be able to put you in the best shoes for your gait.

Run at your own pace. If you’re a beginner, don’t stress about keeping up with advanced or intermediate runners. Training programs will help you build a base and challenge yourself so that you continue to improve.

Make a plan and stick with it! We have training plans on the ZOOMA website that offer advice to get you started and keep you motivated. You can also train with a program, such as the ZOOMA training with Fleet Feet Nashville.

Find training partners. This will help you stay accountable, and it takes the guesswork out of planning a workout. Plus, you will likely develop strong friendships as you train together. You can check local running clubs or running stores to learn about training programs in you area.

Schedule your workouts. Life is hectic, so one way to make sure you fit a training run in, is to add a training appointment to your calendar.
