Bowie Barks for Parks Event

This Saturday, May 3rd, Bowie Nature Park is hosting Barks for Parks, a free event, encouraging everyone to get outdoors with their dog, get some exercise and enjoy spring!

The event takes place from 9a-12p. The event includes a one mile guided dog walk, dog contests, pet adoptions and more! Dog-related vendors will be on site with free goodies and door prizes, as well.

Registration begins at 9am and the Grouop Hike begins at 10am. After the hike, a K9 demonstration by a K9 Wildlife Officer will take place and the Cutest Dog and Best Dog Trick competitions take place. Registration for these contests is $5.00 All money raised from the contests will be donated to Williamson County Animal Control & Adoption Center.

Attendees can also sign up for thirty minute photo sessions with their dogs. The sessions run from 10:30a-1pm. There is a sitting fee of $20, which will go to the Great Outdoors University, a program of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, which connects low-income kids to nature and the outdoors.

“Last year we had nearly 200 participants for this event,” states Jenny Herrera, Program Director of Bowie Nature Park. “We are preparing for double the participation this year. We have lots of fun activities planned for the morning and lots of giveaways and door prizes donated by our generous sponsors.” For more information, click HERE.
