The Greater Nashville Heart Walk is Saturday, October 12th beginning at 8 a.m. at the Vanderbilt University sports field. Subway restaurants and Jenny Craig are sponsors for this year’s fundraiser for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The goal is to raise $2 million.
Heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #4 killers in the country so join in support at this family friendly event. A festival begins at 8 a.m. with music, a survivors breakfast, Emcee welcome and more followed by the walk. Photos of survivors are taken and they line up first followed by the crowd of supporters. The Pearl Cohn High School marching band will play at the beginning of the walk.
At noon the walk and festival will be over but the support lingers and makes a difference. There is a 1 mile and a 5K option. Family of the two and four-legged variety is welcome to the free event. A $10 donation gets you a torch to raise during the walk. Like them and find out more on Facebook.
