Over the last several years, trucks with special modifications have become more popular. Many trucks on the road are modified with top of the line accessories such as upgraded exhaust, elite tires, and off-roading features. Playing off the popularity and the success of these trucks, Chevrolet, Hendrick Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. teamed up to create a special edition Silverado, based off Earnhardt, Jr’s own Silverado, that would be available for sale to the public. The first edition of the specially designed truck was announced and released for sale back in 2015 and continues to be in the spotlight as one of Chevrolet’s best trucks with the most valued additions, with a 2017 edition being released in the coming months.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who has become the most popular driver in the racing world for most of the last 15 years, is known for his love of Chevrolet trucks beginning with his dream of owning the two-tone GMC that was popular in the 80s. His first truck was a S10 that he drove back and forth from his job as a service technician for Chevrolet before he became a staple in the works of racing. The no. 88 special edition truck is designed to be an almost replica of Earnhardt’s own “Big Red” truck that was designed in partnership with Chevrolet back in 2006 and comes with similar accessories like LED off-road lights, 5 spoked wheels, and other accessories essential to driving customized performance trucks. It also features customized decals and emblems that make the truck unique from other Silverados. Although designed after the “Big Red,” the special edition features are available on 1500 Crew Cab Short Bed models of any color.
