The Williamson County Fair ends Aug 13, and although attendance may have been down slightly because of the wet weather, organizers said the crowds have remained steady all week.
According to fair organizer Diane Giddens, 2016 has been a good run for the fair, and so far there have been no big issues for the people running it.
“It’s been going great,” she said. “Certainly weather is always a factor when you have so many activities going on outside, but I believe a lot of folks have come to know that we also have the luxury of such a great indoor facility, and it allows them to come in out of the weather when we have pop-up rainstorms. So they are able to grab something to eat, watch entertainment on the main stage and all the family-friendly, fun entertainment and shows inside.”
Giddens said they have a big weekend lined up to conclude the fair, with acts such as C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band and the Santana tribute “Soul Sacrifice” performed by The Bicho Brothers.
The fair runs 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Williamson County Ag EXPO Park.
General admission tickets for visitors age 13 and over now cost $7, tickets for visitors ages 6-12 cost $4 and visitors 5 years old and younger enter free. Credit cards will also be accepted at the ticket window for the first time.
Free parking is located at Gate 1 of the park. Courtesy carts will take visitors up to the ticket booths up until 15 minutes prior to close.
All backpacks, bags and coolers brought to the fairgrounds will be searched at the gate, and while clear bags are not required, they are convenient. As a reminder, weapons and alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises of the Williamson County Ag Expo Park.
