Summer Book Drive: August 2-29. Help us add to our collection. Books-a-Million is sponsoring a Book Drive for us and, at the checkout, you can purchase a book of your choice or select one from the display behind the counter preselected by the librarian for the Spring Hill Library.

Story Time & Baby Time: Both programs are on break the first two weeks of August.

Saturday LEGO Club: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1. Monthly club for LEGO lovers. We will read a story for inspiration and then its creation time! Everyone welcome. Geared toward school-aged children. LEGO provided. Creations will be put on display.

Chicks with Sticks: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1 & 15. Knitting club open to all.

Reverse Diabetes Naturally: 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 4 & 5:30, Wednesday, August 5. Come and find out the latest evidence-based research on how to reverse diabetes naturally. You will learn how to normalize blood sugar, increase energy, relieve joint pain, and how to get back to living a happier and healthier life. Attendees can enter to win a Free 5-Day Meal Plan. Dietician Crystal Chester will meet one-on-one with the winner, go over their history and needs/goals and customize their meal plan. The drawing will be on Aug 15th.

Teen Time/Mini-Movie Marathon: 3:30 – 6:15 p.m., Thursdays, August 6 & August 13. Come watch some great flicks, (movies are X-Men First Class & X-Men Days of Future Past), make some new friends, and we’ll kick up the fun with related snacks & crafts.

Meet Ophelia the Owl: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8. Local children’s author Parish J. Phelps will share his self-published book Whoo Whoo Is Making That Noise? Reading and Puppet Slide Show. Books available for purchase.

I Cre8 Art Class: 10:00 a.m., Saturday August 8 (monthly on the 2nd Saturday). Open to all ages; no sign up necessary. Art teacher Marcela Espejo will inspire you to explore art in fun ways. Project: Patchwork Ink; white pastel and watercolor. Quilt & Sewing Club: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8. Call the Dancing Bobbin for instructions and supplies: 931-486-2380.

Home Buyers Workshop: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 11. Learn the “20 Questions You Need Answered Before Buying Your Next Home” and “The Top 20 Questions about Home Mortgages.” This is a public service seminar. Hear from those in the industry without any pressure to hire or use their services.

Story Time Resumes Four Days a Week: 10:00 a.m., Monday – Thursday, beginning August 17. Stories, songs, and an art project.

Baby Time Resumes – Twice a Week: 9:15 a.m., Tuesdays & Fridays, starting August 18 &21. A lapsit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers. We will sing, clap, and bounce to nursery rhymes and songs for 20 minutes. No sign up necessary.

Free Help with TennCare, CoverKids or HealthCare.gov : 1:30 – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 18. Certified Application Counselors from Mercy Community Healthcare and Pathways to Health can help you navigate TennCare, CoverKids or HealthCare.gov. This is a FREE service. Counselors get paid through grants and are not associated with any health insurance company.

Favorite Reads Book Club: 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 21. Looking for a book club to join? Come and join in.

Homeschool LEGO Club: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 21. Come & build! LEGO provided. Especially for homeschoolers.

Author Talk: Christian Fiction Writer Carroll Silvera: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22. Author Carroll Silvera will talk about her novel, a nationwide release, Every 9 Seconds. Witness the story of Cara McDonald in a terrifying journey of abuse and neglect that many could never imagine. Will her circumstances cause her to lose her faith in God, or will her faith give her the perseverance to survive?

If you like women characters with moxie, you might enjoy her other books as well; Ancestral Bonz, and …What Doesn’t Kill You. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Silvera lives in Tennessee, and, aside from being a writer, Silvera is also an avid gardener and traveler. The book is published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises.

Guitar 101 by Firey Music: 2:00 p.m., August 22. Have you ever wanted to learn to play guitar? Come to “Guitar 101” taught by Firey Music Co.’s own Dave Parker, and hosted at the Spring Hill Library.

You will learn the parts of the guitar, how to keep it in tune, and you might walk away knowing a chord or finger exercise!

Teen Book Club Reboot: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27. Teens, read a book this summer you would recommend … or not? Teens are invited to share their thoughts and help choose an entertaining book to read collectively. Snacks provided.

Unchained: Sex Trafficking Awareness: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29. Did you know there are more people being used as slaves today than in any other time in history? The nonprofit group UNCHAINED is committed to abolishing domestic sex trafficking and will make you more aware of dangers in your community, educate young people on how to stay safe, they will tell about local resources for victims, and ways you can help save lives.
