Ray Cuz

Williamson County Parks and Recreation and Dreams Do Come True Princess Parties have partnered together to host “Shine Your Light”, a youth vocal competition to benefit Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in honor of Ray of Light, an organization founded by local teen Raymond Cruz, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing’s Like Sarcoma in 2017.

The competition will be held Saturday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 112 Everbright Avenue, Franklin. Judges for the event are James Dupre and Gracen Hill. The evening will showcase over 20 finalists (ages 5-17) selected from an earlier audition. Tickets are $10 and available at www.academyparktn.wcparksandrec.com.

While Ray has fought and beat cancer twice, his cancer returned last month and he was told it is not curable. Despite this, Ray has always wanted to share a message of hope. From the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital to the stage of the Ryman Auditorium, Ray has shared his music and hopeful message. Ray’s dream and mission is to make a difference by helping others and to help raise funds that will provide Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital with research and programs that will provide more help to children and their families.
