A big second half kept the Fairview Yellowjackets (7-0, 3-0) undefeated Thursday against Sycamore (4-4, 1-3).

At halftime the score was tied at 21, but once the second half started it was all Yellowjackets. They outscored the War Eagles 21-0 in the last two quarters, taking a 42-21 win on the road to move to 3-0 in Region 6-3A.

It is the first time since 2011 the Yellowjackets have started 7-0. That season they lost their eighth game and went on to lose in the 3A state tournament quarterfinals to Milan.

Three key players led Fairview in its second-half explosion Thursday. Quarterback Kam Harris-Lusk completed two touchdown passes (34 and 16 yards) to wide receiver Hunter Caldwell in the fourth quarter, and running back Jake Beathard scored on a 44-yard rush in the third quarter.

All three players finished with three touchdowns. Beathard scored twice rushing and once receiving and had 158 total (129 rushing) yards. Harris-Lusk completed 11-of-21 passes for 125 yards and three TDs, and Caldwell caught three passes for 52 yards and two TDs and rushed 13 times for 95 yards and another score.

The Yellowjackets sit alone at the top of the Region 6-3A standings by a half game with the win. The other undefeated region team, Camden Central (4-1, 2-0), plays at Cheatham County (4-3, 2-1) on Friday.
